Best Local Seafood Restaurant

Posted by TommyandMeredith on 8/15/2008

My wife and I have been vacationing to the Fort Lauderdale / Miami area for the past 15 years. We have been eating at the Old Florida Seafood House for 15 years now. We always come back because the quality of the food and service is excellent. We do not leave Florida and return to Michigan without eating here at least once per vacation. We love it because it is a local favorite and not a "chain restaurant". The seafood is always fresh. We highly recommend the frog legs whether it be an appetizer or entree. The FRESH "catch of the day" is just that.....FRESH! Generous portions and excellent quality. The king crab is excellent and so is the warm water lobster stuffed with shrimp and scallops. We always leave full and feel that the price is great. We recommend this place to anyone looking for a great meal at a great price. It has a real cozy atmosphere too.

Great food - huge portions!

I don't know why I wait so long between visits! It's always great food - huge portions. Quite the blue-haired crowd, especially during early bird, but hey, I don't go for the clientele. The gumbo is superb. Grouper is excellent when they have it. I'd only avoid the deep fried zucchini only because it's never been great any place I've gotten it. Big place. The specials are very good. My husband got jumbo shrimp parmesan & they were like mini-lobster tails!! I've never seen them that big in a family restaurant. Mixed bread basket on the table & real butter in big portions. Service was very good & attentive. Our party of 5 all had different dishes & we ALL had a take home box. It's definately worth a try but go off season to avoid the crowds.
